A specific cohort, individual users, site administrators, anyone with a certain role, or your entire user base. Segment your audience so every post reaches exactly who it’s meant for.

How the Learning News plugin works

1

Add the plugin to your dashboard

Go to your dashboard, turn on edit mode, and click Add a block. Select Learning News from the list. Drag and drop the new block to customize your dashboard.
2

Create your news post

Click Add news and fill in the editor fields: a headline, a short summary, and the full contents. Add an image, set the publish date, and choose whether the summary shows on the news page.
3

Set where and how the news appears

Drag and drop the plugin block to set where your news and updates will be shown. Turn on the email option if you want the post sent out by email when it’s published.
4

Choose your audience

In the Audience section, configure who can see the post: a specific cohort, individual users, site administrators, an assigned role, or all users. Add multiple rules to match your access requirements, then check the Access list to confirm who qualifies.
5

Manage your news over time

Open Learning News from the menu launcher to view, edit, and delete existing posts or create new ones. Deactivate older news to hide it from view while keeping it in the archive.
