Evaluation process

Assessment in MAQ courses consists of one timed knowledge quiz and one assignment requiring short written statements with screenshots. To successfully complete any of the MAQ courses, candidates need to pass both the quiz and assignment each with a minimum score of 80%.

The MAQ assignments are graded with a straightforward rubric, visible to the candidate, where each response is graded as not complete, partially or fully complete.

Assessment in MEQ courses consists of one quiz per competence, one scenario-based quiz and one written assignment. To successfully complete any of the MEQ courses, candidates need to pass each quiz (‘Test your understanding’ and scenario-based quizzes) with a minimum score of 80% and reach level B2 (Expert) in the written assignment.

MEQ written assignment is assessed with a rubric based on the DigCompEdu rubric and linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 (Newcomer), A2 (Explorer), B1 (User), B2 (Expert), C1 (Leader), C2 (Pioneer).

FAQ about MAQ

Each module takes approximately 10 hours to complete.

Assignments are evaluated as incomplete, partially complete, or fully complete, while the knowledge test requires a minimum score of 80% to pass. If the required score is not achieved, you may resubmit the test up to two times.

You have two opportunities to revise and resubmit your work. If you are still unsuccessful, you will need to pause your program and repeat the module after a break of 3 to 6 months.

The MAQ is valid for 2 years. Then you need to recertify.

The exact time needed for the MEC depends on your teaching experience and Moodle expertise, but it is estimated that each course needs about 8 hours to complete.

MEQ written assignment are assessed with a rubric, based on the DigCompEdu rubric and linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 (Newcomer), A2 (Explorer), B1 (User), B2 (Expert), C1 (Leader), C2(Pioneer).

If candidates do not reach the 80% in all the ‘Test your understanding’ quizzes that assess capabilities, they will not be awarded the course badge and consequently, they will not be eligible for the Moodle Educator Qualification certificate, even if they successfully complete the scenario-based quiz and reach B2 (Expert) level in the written assignment. They may take the ‘Test your understanding’ quizzes as many times as required.

If a candidate does not reach the B2 level in the written assignment, they may update their submission twice, following the feedback from their facilitator. If they do not reach B2 level after this, they fail in that particular course, and consequently they will not be eligible for the Moodle Educator Qualification certificate.

If a candidate does not reach 80% in the scenario-based quiz after two attempts, they need to discuss the situation with their facilitator. Candidates will be either allowed another attempt or they will be redirected to a training program. In this case candidates will be paused from the MEQ and advised to return at a future date. In the event that a Facilitator allows a third attempt and the candidate fails again, the case is escalated to the Qualifications Coordinator, who will review the case and consult on the next steps.

If they fail one MEQ course they will not be eligible for the Moodle Educator Qualification certificate. Candidates will be paused from the MEQ program and they will be redirected to continue with some training. Candidates will be able to return to the MEQ at a later time, three to six months later, once they have gained some experience. If they want to receive the certificate, they will be allowed to continue from where they left, providing they return to MEQ within two years after their first login. Depending on the specific process of their Moodle Certified Partner or Service Provider, the candidate may need to pay a fee. In any case candidates will need to complete MEQ within two years from their first login to the qualifications site.

The Moodle Administrator Qualification (MAQ) is primarily intended for individuals responsible for the technical management and configuration of the Moodle platform. It covers tasks such as user management, course setup, system settings, plugin maintenance, and ensuring overall platform performance and security.

In contrast, the Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) is tailored for teachers, trainers, and instructional designers who use Moodle to support teaching and learning. These programs are based on the DigCompEdu framework and focus on developing pedagogical and digital competence, such as designing engaging learning activities, assessing learners effectively, promoting collaboration, and using digital tools strategically.
